Natural Wood Finishes, LLC

Power Washing

For most new construction this is an ideal method of exterior cleaning and surface preparation. We often use hot water as it is much more effective in removing mold and mildew in conjunction with a mild bleach solution or oxalic acid.

Pressure washing an older log home is also a good idea so long as the logs are tight. It is not unusual for water to penetrate the walls of a log home during washing. Pressure washing creates a very artificial 200-mile per hour rain storm which will not likely be repeated by any natural event.

In a log home that is likely to leak we always keep a man inside to contain the water. Since this is a little intrusive and the possibility of water damage exists no matter how careful we are, many of our customers are opting for a waterless cleaning method called Corn Blasting.
